The Kolkata International Book Fair 2025 opened on January 28, inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alongside Dr. Phillip Ackermann (German Ambassador to India), Dr. Marla Stuckenberg (Regional Director, Goethe Institut South Asia), and renowned author Abul Bashar, among other dignitaries. During the event, Abul Bashar received the Guild Lifetime Literary Award worth ₹2,00,000 from the Chief Minister.

This year, the fair hosts over 1000 publishers and little magazines, with international representation from Germany, the USA, the UK, France, Russia, Nepal, and Latin America. Major Indian and multinational publishing houses are also participating.
